font-weight: inherit;\"><p><b>What It Is . . .<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries is a place to address the spiritual, emotional, physical and social needs of women in the church.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries encourages women to improve their potential for participation in the mission of the church.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a support system for hurting women\u2014whether they are suffering from divorce, abuse or simply loneliness.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a forum to help address topics and issues as they affect the woman.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encourages young women through a scholarship program.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encourages women to become involved in all areas of ministry in their church, their community, and in their home.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It mentors young women so that they may find joy in the Lord.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries recognizes that women have many Gifts of the Spirit, and it attempts to help women discover and use these gifts to the glory of God.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-52b6320\" data-id=\"52b6320\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e059796 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e059796\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul style=\"margin-top: 0in;\" type=\"1\"><li><p><b>What It Isn&#8217;t . . .<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries is not new. In 1898 Mrs. S.M.I. Henry, with the encouragement of Ellen G. White, headed a church department for women&#8217;s ministry. Soon afterwards her death ended the work she began. It wasn&#8217;t until 1990 that the Office of Women&#8217;s Ministries was once again began to function. It became a full church department in 1995.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries is not a forum for women who have complaints, justified or not, against employers.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not a place for women to promote equal rights for women, although we admit it is an important issue.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not a mere source of entertainment or the opportunity to spend endless hours on projects that merely promote selfish ideas.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not a platform for the ordination of women, although we believe that everyone should use their talents to God&#8217;s glory and should receive just recognition for work done for His honor.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not male bashing. It is anti-sexist, not anti-male.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries is not exclusive. But more specifically, we are called to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nurture\u2014Reach Up to God<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Empower\u2014Reach Across with God<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outreach\u2014Reach Out with God<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women&#8217;s Ministries is a place to address the spiritual, emotional, physical, and social needs of women in the church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women\u2019s ministries upholds, encourages, and challenges women in their daily walk as disciples of Jesus Christ and as members of His church.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its objectives are to foster spiritual growth and renewal; affirm that women are of immeasurable worth by virtue of their creation and redemption, equip them for service, and offer women\u2019s perspectives on church issues; minister to the broad spectrum of women\u2019s needs, with regard for multicultural and multi-ethnic perspectives; cooperate with other departments to facilitate ministry to women and of women; build good will among women to encourage mutual support and creative exchange of ideas; mentor and encourage women and create paths for their involvement in the church; and find ways and means to challenge each woman to use her gifts to further global mission.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c306cf8\" data-id=\"c306cf8\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-08f901c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"08f901c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>Challenges in the W.M<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Department of Women&#8217;s Ministries chose to address six critical issues that particularly impact women around the world. These challenges are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Illiteracy<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abuse<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poverty<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health risks<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work loads<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of mentoring and leadership training<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Christians, seeking to follow the example of Jesus, we believe that it is important to do what we can to meet the needs of all people, developing trust, and helping them to find the answers to their needs. For this reason, Women&#8217;s Ministries has chosen to focus much of its attention to these challenges.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before much can be done to address most of these needs, a person must be able to read. Almost one billion adults cannot read; about three-fourths of these are women. They cannot read the instructions on a medicine bottle, fill out an employment form, or read the directions for a household cleaner. Neither can they read a Sabbath School lesson to a child nor read the Bible. Like many in the Dark Ages, they must get their Gospel from someone else.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are certainly challenges for everyone in the church. Women&#8217;s Ministries invites all to join together to share the Good News of the
